Maricela Segura is Acting Assistant Director of the Federal Trade Commission’s Western Region, Los Angeles office. As a litigator handing cases for the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, she has investigated and prosecuted cases in a number of areas, including debt collection, lending, online and print advertising, telemarketing, debt settlement, and data security. Ms. Segura is actively involved in the FTC’s outreach and education efforts, including those focused on financial services issues and to Spanish-speaking communities. Before joining the Commission, Ms. Segura was an associate with Sidley Austin and clerked for Judge David R. Thompson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She received her J.D. from the University of Southern California and her B.A. from UCLA. Ms. Segura is a graduate of the Partnership for Public Service’s Excellence in Government program.
